Changes in the Wind

I want to talk about some upcoming changes in my life and this site.

I haven’t paid a great deal of attention to this web site recently. I’ve been busy with other things. Furthermore, things have changed in my own life. These changes have led me to make some changes in my life focus.

My dad is 89 years old. He served in World War II and was injured twice in combat. He still carries one of the bullets he took in Europe, although it has not stopped him from having a full, active life. Until recently, Dad has been able to get around without too much trouble. Increasingly, though, he’s been suffering falls. After the last one, which happened around the beginning of this year, he had a lot of trouble getting up. Dad is neither sick nor helpless; he just doesn’t get around as well as he used to.

To cut to the chase, I’ve decided that I’m going to devote more of my time and help Dad out. I can help out with cooking, cleaning, and provide companionship. My dad may have six months or six years (or more, who knows?), but I’d like to see that remaining time be as easy on him as possible. Pursuant to this decision, I’ve decided to stop pursuing any IT-related work, contract or otherwise, until further notice. This domain is scheduled to expire around the first of July and I will not renew it.

I still hope to finish and release an upgrade to the WPQuotidian WordPress plugin in the near future. I’m also contemplating a second (and final) edition of the Little Book of Business Intelligence, perhaps for release as an e-book through Amazon or Google Play. However, I plan to shift my focus to creative endeavors, such as my music, which to be honest I have always seen as my highest calling. Toward that end I hope to launch a new personal website this spring. I’ll advise as I make progress on that. In the meantime, I’m focusing on long-term work.
